In Memory

Michael Anthony Alward

MEYERS, Michael Anthony (Alward)
December 20, 1947 - February 3, 2016

Michael was first and foremost a Warrior for Jesus Christ. He was a graduate of Lewis & Clark, as well as an ordained minister with his degree from Eugene Bible College. He was proud to be a Military Veteran, especially his tours in Vietnam. Ultimately though, he was a victim of Agent Orange. Michael passed away peacefully in a Veteran's care facility in Gilroy, CA; and was buried with Military Honors at San Joaquin National Veterans Cemetery in February.
He is survived by his daughter Traci McCann and grandchildren, Zachary and Claire McCann. Also surviving are his parents, Howard and Nadine Alward; sisters, Missy, Kitten, LuAnne and Mary; as well as a large extended family. Michael was preceded in death in 1992 by his closest friend and brother Bob Meyers (Alward).
The family wishes to extend our sincere thank you to Michael's outstanding Dr's: Dr. Harlan Pinto and Dr. Davud Sirjani of the Stanford-Palo Alto Veterans' Hospital for their years of phenomenal care. We also want to offer a deep thank you to the caring staff of both Stanford-Palo Alto Veterans' Hospital and Care Meridian Veterans' facility for their loving and gracious care.

Sorry to hear about Mike's passing. He was a great athelete and a fun guy to be around. He was a big sports rival in grade school and I got to run around with him during freshman year at LC. Many good memories and laughs as we were coming of age. RIP Mike.

The thing I remember most about Mike Alward is his great sense of humor. He could always make me laugh!
