ANNOUNCEMENTS

2024 LC Tiger Fund Alumni/Student Art Sale Results

The first annual fund raising event to benefit the LC Tiger Scholarship fund was conducted May 11th & 12th. The event was themed around LC Alumni and student artists with the sale proceeds donated to the LC Tiger Fund (Fund administered by Innovia). The LC Tiger Fund is dedicated to awarding education scholarships to senior LC graduates who have overcome hardships and need financial help to continue their education. The LC Tiger Fund was established in 2006 by your fellow LC 66 grads and the fund has been awarding scholarships annually since inception.

The ability of the LC Tiger Fund to provide impactful amounts of funding is based on the principle amount of money available in the endowment. Although our LC 66 grads have done an outstanding job in building the endowment to its current size, it is recognized that we needed to expand our footprint beyond just 1966 LC grads to grow the endowment. Hopefully this gives you a thumbnail overview of where we were in early 2023 and how this event came to fruition.

In October, 2023 an organizing committee was formed around an Alumni/Student Art event after getting positive preliminary reaction by LC 66 Alumni artists, the LCHS Art Department, the LCHS Principal and LC grad key volunteers with the talents, skills & experience to pull this off. The Organizing Committee volunteers who dedicated extensive time and effort were;

  • Diane Wynne Alfano (LC 66) Event Co-chair, PR, everything under the sun (Human dynamo)
  • Gary Teale (LC 66) Event Co-chair, Accounting, Logistics, all everything (actually has done fund raiser previously)
  • Greg Bogus (LC 66) Strategy (idea man and general pain-in-tail to Gary)
  • Betsy Reid Ward (LC 66) Artist - Alumni Artist recruitment (cat herder)
  • Mark Hussein (LC 66) Artist & Innovia Fund expert, founding member LC Tiger Fund (wife Susie helped a ton)
  • Jim Hoppe (LC 65) Website master (www.lctigerfund.org)
  • Tim Bruya (LC 66) - Company Sponsorship Recruiter (Collected over $4,000 in sponsorship funds)
  • Harley Rekord (LC 66) - Accounting & Finance

Over the next few months additional volunteers were recruited (primarily residents in Spokane) that included LC grads from other classes. Here is a list of the additional volunteers that helped with the success of this event;

  • Bruce Thompson (LC 66)

An additional number of LCHS artists contributed their art for sale and we also had historical art works going back to the 1920s (from the LCHS art archives). For a list of the participating LC alumni artists please visit our website at - www.lctigerfund.org

Finally the bottom line! We sold over $9,000 in art plus additional direct donations over $1,000 for a gross slightly over $10,000. After expenses we are donating $8.313 to the LC Tiger Fund.

Here is a list of some of the LC 66 attendees (also known as the "usual suspects");

  • Gene Baldwin (LC 66) - Lacey, WA (plus wife Jill)
  • Chuck Beeck (LC 66) - Honolulu, HI (all the way from Hawaii!)

I am sure that I have missed some of our attendees and I do not have a list of the multiple LC grads from other classes that attended. Thank you all for coming and your support.

This event could not have happened without the extensive support and encouragement from LCHS students, LCHS administration, Teachers and parents. A special thank you to our key LCHS supporters;

Ivan Corley, Principal

Chad Brazill, LCHS Art Department Head

In closing our long term intent is to hold an annual fund raiser event and to continue to build the LC Tiger Fund. For long term success we need an infusion of younger LCHS grads to continue the mission. Please continue your support and recruit from other classes so this effort can continue to evolve into the future.

Pictures od the LC Tiger Fund Alumni/Student Art Sale will be posted in the LC Tiger 66 - Recent Photos section as they become available.
